    Here's what my dad says-

    The books that you spoke of have info in them that is mostly good, but not completely accurate. Having been a mason for 23 years the best advice that I could give you would be to directly ask a mason in your area. Each lodge has small pamphlets. Which should answer most of your questions. The other or remaining Q's that you have can be answered directly from speaking w/ a mason. There is a saying in masonry " To be one ask one." In order to be a mason you must 1st ask one. A mason can not directly ask you to join. You must begin the conversation 1st. In most states the membership or the joining age is 21 years of age. In TN our Grand Lodge voted to allow men 18 years of age to join. Masonry is a men's fraternity.
